The Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club of Metairie is celebrating the Jefferson Parish Bicentennial and kicking off the Carnival season in grand style by hosting a King Cake Capital of the World party on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11 a.m.
This unique event will feature a 200-foot king cake that will be proudly displayed wrapped around the Carousel in Lafreniere Park and served to attendees. The king cake is being prepared by the talented chefs and members of the American Culinary Federation of New Orleans (ACFNO), led by Ron Lafrate, owner of the Gumbo Shop and a recognized culinary figure in the area.
As part of the festivities, attendees can enjoy not just the monumental king cake, but also a variety of family-friendly activities. Guests can take a spin on the Carousel, jump on the spacewalks, and browse through local vendor booths. All of these activities, including a piece of king cake (as supplies last), will be available for $5 per person.
